Challenger Info
I saw they released pricing info on the new Dodge Challengers. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $40,095, and will be SRT8's with a 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 engine. They already have over 6,000 people that put down deposits without seeing the car! The production pictures look great. I can't wait to see the vehicle at the Chicago Auto Show. Anyone on the list to get one?

My friend's dad was one of those 6,000. He opted for the top-spec model, and promised me a drive. :)

The base GT will be less, but that's because it's not of as higher spec as the Camaro and Challenger. As for other versions, well, dunno.

I didnt know the base was planned on having that much...hardly an entry level base model isnt it I personally thought it would be in the vincinty of our VE SS' 260kw (348 hp) and not our 300kwish (400.5 hp) HSV models.
What ever happened to entry level performance cars? or ar ethey all small european and japanese turbo cars nowdays?:(

Those pics look awesome! It looks true to the concept which is key and definitely has the retro vibe that I was expecting. I'm ready to see it in black and orange though. I don't think the silver quite does it justice. Dodge released production numbers for the 2008 SRT8's - they're building 6,400 and each will have a dash plaque displaying the car number. Pretty sweet!

Dear EPA and CAFE,
Get ****ed.
Love,
The New Dodge Challenger

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the people that will be buying the challenger are not as concerned with how many miles per gallon the car is getting. I'm guessing most buyers will not have this as their primary vehicle so it's more about having an awesome vehicle that has a lot of power behind it. And the car is definitely going to deliver!
-
Dodge is releasing what was originally the prototype Challenger Super Stock. It weights 800 lbs less than the stock Challenger and will dispatch the quarter mile in about 11 seconds.
Impressive.
-
I'm bothered by the interior spy pics.
They don't look good... :(

I was concerned about mileage when I puchased my LS1/6 speed Z28 Camaro in 1999 and gas now is more expensive than it was then.
The Camaro got 19 city/28 highway MPG. That was exceptional performance relative to the car's considerable performance potential. That combination played a key role in my decision to buy the car.
The Challenger is a heavy car for what it is.

The LS2 is no longer an RPO engine and has since been replaced by the LS3 in the Corvette - - genius.
Expect a "detuned" LS3 in the performance (i.e Z28) version of the Camaro.

That really is a nice car
